Uminomori

The reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay, created using waste and construction debris, has been transformed into a lush green area by the Sea Forest Project, headed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. Tree planting activities took place between 2008 and 2015, and the area is scheduled to fully open in March 2025.
The area is home to an internationally certified water sports venue, developed as the venue for rowing and canoeing events at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Currently, it is used by local student and corporate rowing teams for practice and competitions. KOTO CITY also hosts activities such as Nordic walking and yoga classes, making it a beloved recreational spot for residents.
The area, surrounded by the sea on all sides, can be accessed by a free shuttle bus that runs through an undersea tunnel. Inside the tunnel, the area is dimly lit by scattered yellow LED lights, and announcements such as "20 meters to the exit" are played, creating an otherworldly, surreal experience that builds excitement before arriving at Sea Forest.
This location is also a great view point of the Tokyo Gate Bridge, also known as the "Dinosaur Bridge," one of the new landmarks of Tokyo Bay. The spectacular view of the Gate Bridge from the rooftop deck of the venue's boathouse is unparalleled.
On the second floor of the boathouse, there is a cafeteria with vending machines selling snacks such as bread and juice, making it convenient for you to grab a snack.
